A statement from the President and Vice President of the Methodist Church

about the death of Sir David Amess MP

Gracious God

We are thankful for all those who give their lives to public service; we are deeply saddened when it comes at such cost. Be with all who loved the late David Amess MP and especially with his family at this awful time.

Lord, we pray for all those affected by this violent act. May your comforting love and healing grace be with them all.

In Christ’s name we pray.  Amen

Sending you a socially-distanced hugServices at present are both in church and online.  The church is meeting on Sunday mornings at 10.30am for services in the church building, and we shall be responding carefully to the Government and Methodist Church guidance throughout the next few weeks, to provide a safe and re-assuring environment for all - including those who have not felt confident about returning to worship as yet.

Worship continues through the online services which you can access through the link at the top of this page.  Services go 'live' at 9.30am each Sunday morning, and remain on youtube for you to watch over future weeks.

There is also a Circuit zoom service at 6.30pm each Sunday evening.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”  2 Timothy 1:7

God of all hope we call on you today.
We pray for those who are living in fear:
Fear of illness, fear for loved ones, fear of other’s reactions to them.
May your Spirit give us a sense of calmness and peace.

We pray for your church in this time of uncertainty.
For those people who are worried about attending worship.
For those needing to make decisions in order to care for other
For those who will feel more isolated by not being able to attend.
Grant us your wisdom.

Holy God, we remember that you have promised that
Nothing will separate us from your love – demonstrated to us in Jesus Christ.
Help us turn our eyes, hearts and minds to you.

Amen
